From our upcoming split 7" with Bad Habit on Neutral Territory Records

Love + Rent

kids of divorce engaged to failure
falling out of love with their student loans
getting good jobs in playing dead
for 40 hours a week for 40 years on the rolls

he who fucks nuns later joins the church
in the sad small towns where fascism sells
the youth have hope but give 'em enough rope
and they'll hang themselves from wedding bells

hunters and gatherers enjoying the fruits of progress
watching the same shows in the same empty apartments
hiding from the debt collectors and dreaming of work
the abandoned children of God demanding child support

there must be something human still left in this being
the lack of meaning is also a meaning
the lack of feeling is also a feeling
but don't press my face to the floor and call it a ceiling

The Bourgeois Blues

we grew up in the decline
cursed to the core
massachusetts is a coffin
I was born in a corpse

let the cold rain drown
the cool crowd downtown
I got the bourgeois blues
spread the news around

I'm not fucking around

Destroy What Destroys You

this life could be the death of us
hung from the bible belt
all good cops get into heaven
but all my friends go straight to hell
these days are spent trading in cheap, white lies
I'll paint them black and call it a night

I tried but the light was never enough
this life could be the death of us

the civil lies, so civilized
they sell the slaves their cells
"give us this day, our daily spell:
all is well that ends, oh well"
destroy what destroys you, despair of despair
I pledge allegence to Nowhere

I swear to a god that I don't believe in
fuck forgiveness, I'm going to get even
I wasn't born to die between 9 and 5
I swear to a god that I don't believe in
fuck forgiveness, I'm going to get even:

for every day I woke up dead
for highways clogged with cattle fat
for the kids who slept through middle-class
with american dreams they'll never have

I tried but the light was never enough
this life could be the death of us
but I deny a life that will never be mine
kill the cop inside your mind and burn it fucking down

Guy was seriously a lyrical genius. I would love to be able to write this way.

You mean "is" a lyrical genius.
He still is
ever was
and always will be.
Amen.

It saddens me that I just heard about Last Lights after Dom's death. These are the best hardcore lyrics I've heard since American Nightmare/Give Up The Ghost.

Dude's lyrics were fucking amazing, which is such a rarity in this day and age. Love And Rent is a bona fide anthem. It makes his death all the more tragic.

My thoughts are with all you guys.
