I'm now sitting in Capella's in Tulsa. We were under the impression that the show was at Exit 6C, but it turns out that's a huge concert hall. Capella's is the bar attached to it. Sorry for any confusion that may have been caused. It looks like a great room; we even got a chance to sound check.

Last night we played the Boobie Trap in Topeka with Jason Walsmith, Bridges, and the WiseAcres. It was definitely a Sunday. Sundays and Mondays are always a problem on the road. People tend not to go out those nights, especially in midwestern working-class towns, but it's hard to justify two days off when you're struggling to make gas money. We'll suck it up anyway and play for the bar staff. We don't care.

Highlights of the night:

- I mentioned something about band we know having "drummer problems" to the guys of Bridges. Their drummer nonchalantly responded "Tell me about it. I got shot last week." He told me he was loading equipement out of his van at show in Topeka, and four guys surrounded him, one of them wearing a mask and brandishing a gun held sideways, gangsta-like, pointed at his face. He says he was saved by remembering a quote from Al Capone: "Charge a gun, and run from a knife." He charged the guy and ended up getting shot in the shoulder and hip. Last night, he played with a bullet still in his shoulder.

- We were standing outside, and a giant of a man walked into the bar. He had to be over seven feet tall. We all watched as Cory looked up at him in astonishment. This never happens to Cory, who is "5 ft. 19 in." tall. I think he was frightened.

The low point:

- Jason Walsmith had to leave us to go back to Des Moines. It was great getting to know him, and we're all kind of bummed that he's gone.

More tomorrow.
