CHECK YOUR CHEST
You can't really think that you're on top. The shit goes down and all you do is talk. As soon as a body hits the floor you want to jump in the mix, a vulture up's it's score. You can't really think that you're on top. You're like jackals feeding on the scraps. Cowards running with the weakest pack. Stand in the back until you feel it's safe to make the attack. But it's all for the show, just to get known. You only want to make a name, but you're not grown. So you better slow your role, because when you're alone you're just a punk who needs to get thrown...to the wolves. So you'll learn respect is something to be earned, and you'll get burned if you wanna act a fool and think it's cool. Well I think you better chill before you get schooled. You better check your chest, is there courage inside? You better check your chest, you're not on my side. You better recognize this is not your fight, or I just might bust another head tonight. You can't really think that you're on top. You've proved [you're] a coward so you better walk. Don't come around acting like something you're not. You think you're hard but you're not, so I hope that you stop. You can't really think this fight is for you. You make me hate you with the things that you do. Well in the end son you're gonna lose, 'cause I'm sick and tired of you and your bullshit crew. You'll never be more than just a joke. Something better change 'cause I'm at the end of my rope. So you better wise up now or quit the game. But it seems you're more concerned with a quest for fame. You better check your chest. Don't be a fool like the rest. You better check your chest...if you ever decide to fuckin' test.
"This song was written after witnessing a situation where some people got involved in a situation when they had no right or reason to other than to try and make a name for themselves by eating off the scraps of other people. Vultures."
IT'S NO MIRACLE Well it's no miracle, but it's a shame. You've screwed yourself and defiled your name. Explain to me what you're fighting for. This dreamt up passion you cannot ignore. Why do you insist on playing these games? I'd swear that your mouth does not connect to your brain. I thought you were down, thought you were my friend. You had my support but chose to bicker instead. There's no real fight in you. Everything that you think that you stand for is fake. I won't stand side by side with you. It's sad to see you as an object of my hate. You have no reason to speak my name. No explanations for things you say. No stress or hardships within your days. You don't know what it's like to live real life my way. As for this growing hatred inside. You look my way and you ask me "why?". The only thing that comes to mind is in your own five words: "I hope you fucking die!".
"Bands are constantly writing songs about friendships and how this person and that person stabbed them in the back. Well so-called friends are constantly screwing people and giving others every reason to write songs full of hate about them. This particular song is about a "friend" I had in a band called The Miracle Mile who one day decided to think he was above me, would no longer call me a friend and would begin to publicly speak bad about me. This song is very personal and I still feel the same hatred to this day."
WHAT'S A LITTLE BLOOD
Release of our aggression. The therapy for our lives. This is our way of dealing with the pressures built inside. Let it all go! The floor is ours so clench your fists and hold 'em tight, swing 'em hard and let the blood and sweat wash away the troubles we face in every day life.
This is your time so swing for blood. No hard times here it's all in fun. Represent your block, come on and step it up. What's a little blood between the ones we love!
So lace your shoes up tight, and stomp that fuckin floor. Representation is a must, so dance hard and show us all who's down for the core. We must forget everything in the outside world and just release the aggressions inside. But have respect for one another, and everyone will have a good time.
"Moshing, dancing, pits etc. as corny as it may sound/be, sometimes it's as much a part of hardcore as anything else. It's such a great feeling to go to a show and just let loose and forget about the ugly outside "real" world. This song is an apreesh to releasing aggression and energy in a positive way at a hardcore show.
ur moshing." DOWN FOR THE CORE
HARDCORE! Hardcore will never die, keep it alive within out hearts and minds. HARDCORE! Hardcore, we will show our pride for good friends, good music & good times. MY LOVE! My love will never fade. Still burning strong since the first day. Our lives are lived hard, the weak have no say. We are the strong and we will have our way!
Peel back the flesh and expose my veins. My blood runs thick and that wont ever change. Love for my family's strong and here to stay. Down for the core til in my grave i lay. Flesh of my flesh, of blood and bone. It's what I love, it's what I know, shouting hardcore! til the last day.
Demand respect and respect will be paid. In this for life somehow some way. Keep up the fight and show your pride. Doom family thugs so recognize. "People will always criticize and say that songs written about "hardcore" are cliche and that it's all been said before and blah blah blah... I on the other hand don't give a shit about what those people say. I write words that I truly feel in my heart, and this song includes some of those words. These lyrics are just straight to the point and real. The term "down for the core" came about as a joke between me and a good friend of mine. If I wasn't able to make it to a show, pick up a bands latest CD/demo or anything like that, he would jokingly say to me "you're not down for the core.". I loved the phrase and decided to use it in a song. I've been contributing to this love of mine for 10+ years now and have no intentions of stopping."
