Hey all!
Today I had an exam and it wasnt amazing, nor too bad, just came out a bit blah, so I decided to treat myself, and walked into town and bought two items.
Firstly was "The Fountain" on blu ray, I love that film and I've always wanted to see it hi-def and looking beautiful, and finally got the chance today and its amazing. The scenes that take place in space are all filmed using chemical reactions filmed microscopically in a petri-dish and it is so beautiful, and even those who dont get the idea of the film (because it is pretty confusing) you cant deny its beautiful!
Secondly I treated myself to Graham Coxons brand new album "The Spinning Top". And I am so glad I did. It is very very good. I luckily met Graham Coxon once in 2007 when I was shortlisted for a competition and he talked to me about his desire to make an acoustic based album, and here it is, in all its glory. Recently I read an interview with him in the sun and he said it was inspired by a few people, but the first name on the liste was Nick Drake. Following my previous blog, I felt really happy about that!
Graham Coxon has put all the songs up on his myspace, but I say if you like it, go and buy the album, its really good and its nice to see someone in a fairly big position producing the kind of music that I wish more people made. For those of you who dont know, Graham was the guitarist of the band Blur who were MASSIVE in the 90's in England.
I recommend "Feel Alright" first! Its an amazing song! Then any of "Look into the light" "If you want me" "Dead Bees" or "Sorrow's Army"
Nice to see some proper music back out there!
Bye Bye!
