The Bass
It's a carved top Framus from the 70's.

The Action
The action is 18mm at the G and 20mm at the E.

The Strings
The E and the A are Eurosonics (lights.)
The D and the G are weed eater lines. .130 and .105. That choice is not pure laziness - these strings work and sound just fine - $3 for a spool of the G (approx. 100 ft of the stuff) and $10 for the D (75 feet of the stuff.) The G lasted just over two years - tone and response intact. I'm still using the D I put on 2 1/2 years ago. Arco is fine - the tone and response are presentable (bear in mind, I'm not performing classical style musics very often) the D is a little fussy but nothing a little attention to technique won't conquer.

The Amps and Whatnot
Ampeg BA-112. I don't like amps.
The pick-up is a David Gage kindly passed along to me by a generous friend.
The combination of the pick-up and the amp seems to get a pretty natural tone with no pre-amp.
When volume is needed, I prefer the small bullet mike clipped on to the F hole. The one I have and use is an Audio-Technica. It does the trick.

The Milestone Trio

That's so funny about the weed eater lines!  You and your band sound incredible.  I'm coming to Austin this summer, and I am going to come hear you play if possible.  I've gotta try some weed eater line on my old cello to see how it works.

Best regards,
Aaron Fuller (the guy on the left)
