Kemper Arena, Kansas City
Puddle of Mudd was the opening act of a three band performance including Daughtry and Nickelback; the final date of the Nickelback tour. Wes Scantlin has roots in Kansas City, where he once lived, and named the original band 'Puddle of Mudd' after the Missouri River flood of 1993 turned their practice space into . . . a puddle of mud. He recorded his first CD in Red House Studio in Lawrence, KS.
Tonight was far from the band's most shining performance, as the home town crowd took their time in warming up for the 'kid who made it' from KC. It's been a grueling tour, and despite Wes' possibly strained vocals, the three guitars of Wes, Christian Stone and Doug Ardito showed their fans that they still have the stuff that great guitar bands are made of. Wes laid down some hot riffs exhibiting he definitely still has his chops. Ryan Yerdon held tight on drums, he's been with the band for 2 years, and hopefully he'll stay put with Puddle of Mudd; he's a real asset.
The title song for their upcoming CD "Famous" release was a hit with the KC fans; they played other new songs "Psycho", and "Lasik Surgery" as well. All in all the big crowd pleaser was " She Hates Me", which he sang unabridged as " She F'n Hates Me". Everyone F'n sang along, so alls well that F'n ends well. It was good to have them back here again. The new CD is now scheduled for release on Oct. 9th.
