BOSTON - For the past fifteen years, while the mainstream continued to water itself down, confusing fashion with integrity and glossy production with heaviness, Detroit's Small Stone Records has been searching out the best hard rock and metal the American and European undergrounds have to offer.  After a string of successful showcases at South by Southwest in Austin, Texas and CMJ in New York City, Small Stone's bringing the good fight to Boston.

Portland, Maine's SUN GODS IN EXILE and Boston's GOZU represent fresh takes on classic hard rock, with the former proving the south doesn't have a lock on whiskey soaked riffs and the latter demonstrating that a good groove makes a good song great.  Speaking of great songs, they may only have two albums to their name (with the third on its way), but Los Angeles' SASQUATCH has proven to be peerless among classic rock three-pieces.  Few can combine hard hitting, urgent riffs with soulful vocals, and a rhythm section that's deep in the pocket like these guys.  What could make them better?  A guest appearance by MONSTER MAGNET's Ed Mundell, that's what.

Virginia's THROTTLEROD, New Jersey's SOLACE, and Boston's ROADSAW are long time veterans, with the scars to show and the stories to tell.  And yet they keep getting better and better as time marches onward.  THROTTLEROD's latest, "Pig Charmer," has been praised by all who've heard it, advanced previews of SOLACE's "AD" takes the lifer scuzzbuckets to a whole new level of heaviness, and ROADSAW's comeback album "See You In Hell" is nothing short of a modern day stoner rock classic.

Tired of the masses celebrating mediocrity, braying praise at the praise-less?  Then check out the Boston Small Stone Showcase this September 26.
