How's it going guys...this is a video I've put together of a totally new song that I have just finished writing this very minute. It's for my next CD that I hope to release early in 2010. This is the first time I have ever made a video of a song that I have not yet recorded and what I want you to do is to help me come up with a title for this song.
I'm looking for something totally original and if you come up with a good title for this song I will use it. Of course I will give you full credit for thinking of the title in the booklet for the new CD next year.
So please leave  me a comment with your song title ideas...I really look forward to hearing them. And as always thank you so much for the wonderful support I get from you guys.
I know the sound quality on this recording is not the best and of course it will not sound like this when it's recorded but this is the way I usually write songs with just an acoustic guitar and sometimes my harmonica. I thought I'd give you a chance to see how my songs start out...so now come on let's have those titles.

Your old friend...Jim

'House built on solid ground'
love the song Jim! And obviously I love the last line in the song, it haunts you... I just think this title would highlight it and make it stand out. Well, I hope you find the perfect title Jim...I'm excited to see what it will turn out to be! I also can't wait for your new CD...so far it sounds great! :)

I have to agree with Chris and Kimberlea, "Without You" seems to be the only logical title..... but I like "If Wishes Were Bridges".

Jim - very nice, soulfull....it does seem like 'Without You' is a no-brainer, yet trying to expand the parameters of the title, feelings and general sense of the song...
might i suggest....'Lonely House Without You'
just trying to incorporate all the things going on within framework of song.

great stuff my man - good tohear ya sing out !
peace 'n' music

Well Jim I was going to say If Wishes Were Bridges, but Marilyn beat me to it :0) Shucks ... Another thought that came to mind was Shadow of You. I know there's no part of the song that says that, but it seems that the man in the song is caught up in her shadow. I love the song. Very captivating, like anything you do it's full of a peaceful energy & soul. It's rockin too though :0) If I think of any others I'll be back to let you know.
T'care my friend ♥

Always, April

Hey Jim
Once again youve poured alot into a magical tune, that you can feel so much from when you listen. Its a beautiful song, well done. Everyones come up with some great names for it, all fitting too and such a neat idea getting your friends to add their thoughts for a name. I like **Souls locked in time** Take care and look forward to seeing which way you go with a name.

Hugs, Kris xx

Hey Jim have listened to your song a few times now and still not come up with anything 'Orininal' as ya put it yourself.First time I heard it I thought without you as some of your other friends have said, but then you'd get all sorts of complaints from Harry Nilson :-).I like 'Solid Ground' but see someone beat me to it hehe.
Ill have a bit more of a think about it and get back to you before Gilda and I head off to the States!

Hey Jim,
This song is so awsome!! I am afraid I will have to go against the grain though. I would entitle this song "This House". I do like "Solid Ground " also. I really love the sound of that acoustic you are using on this song.
Anyway, whatever the title it is awsome man, awsome!!
Have a great week,
Phil

Ok, so I'm gonna throw some totally off the wall suggestions out there. These are just from some images I had in my head while listening to your song (which is really great by the way. So spoiled that we got to listen to that live when you were recording... bet everyone is jealous now hehehe)
Anyway, i would have to say "Slip into Tomorrow", "Lonely seasons" or "No bridge between us".

Do not ask where these came from. Like I said... slightly off the wall titles :)

Anyways, hope you all have a great day!

Right....well now that I've had time to think about it and you heard Gilda's 3 titles...I was thinking something along the lines of 'Valley,Without you' or 'Lonesome Valley'....basically something with Valley in the title hehe.
Well let us know what ya choose auld lad :-)

First off, great song, great playing, singing, and I loved the amazing harmonica solo intro... man!

I think it would be very weird if you DIDN'T name the song 'Without You' due to the song rules.. haha.. I say you break the rules and name the song 'Built On Solid Ground' or 'House On Solid Ground' that just sounds new and fresh.. But whatever you'll choose, the song will still ROCK! cheers,

AWESOME JIM....BUT THEN THATS NO SURPRISE. AS I LISTENED TO YOU SING THIS. I PICTURED YOU SITTING ON THE FRONT PORCH OF A TINY OLD SHACK OVERLOOKING THE VALLEY BELOW & I SEE THE RIVER THAT RUNS THERE WITH AN OLD BRIDGE CROSSING OVER IT,  WITH ACRES OF BEAUTIFUL GREEN PASTURES SPREADING OUT FAR & WIDE IN ALL DIRECTIONS WITH MAYBE A LONE BARE TREE STANDING IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE... (ON A VERY MISTY MORNING).   FROM THIS VISION & THE HAUNTING QUALITLY OF THE SONG & YOUR VOICE MY CHOICE IS......

COLD VALLEY WITHOUT YOU!

Hello sweet Jim, I’m a bit late catching up with you on this one. I, like everyone else, heard the lyrics “without you “and “on solid ground” and I was drawn to those for the title. But, how about this for thinking outside of the box … “a little doubt”.  Sending a warm embrace my darling friend. Another wonderful song by a masterful musician. Katherine xo
