First I gotta explain where I work at. I've been living in Juneau since september on a boat. around november or so looking for jobs, I met a guy at a halloween party who told me about a place called JAMHI. basically they service clients with mental illness of all degrees. He ended up hiring me as a residential counselor in the supported living sector. what happens is I live a couple of days of the week with clients who display some more serious illnesses, delusions etc. and try to curb their behavior and redirect them. I also cook their meals, give them their meds, take them to their appointments, on outings and what have you, all in all try and help them feel a little bit more normalized, or maybe a better way to put it, just keep them within bounds in their experience and behavior.
I have been really enjoying listening to hospital blossoms, and in trying to feel my way into it more, I have been taking it with me to work and play it in the car. The clients have been responding really well, and one exclaimed with breathlesness "its beautiful music", and another quietly hums along. they may not be your ordinary critiques, or anywhere fully aware what's it all about, but they definitely feel it in their own buds. Anything that puts a laugh and a smile and make them feel beautiful about life, is always considered therapuetically valuable.
