Current mood:  sad
Category: Life
Hey guys,

We wanted to share with you everything that has been going on in our lives as of late.

We're very very sad to say that this is the first time the band is not going to be the priority in our lives since we were all youngsters in high school. There's really no other way to explain it besides saying that we just all feel we need to change something. It was a feeling that was collectively brought up by all of us so there are definitely no harsh splits or arguments that were involved when this decision came to be.

Basically, it's been our dream since we could all actually play songs on our instruments to be in a successful touring band. We've worked hard since we were sophomores in high school (a pretty bad garage band at best, ha) to build a very cool following in Chicago and then eventually sign to Victory Records and put out two CD's in stores while touring with the absolute coolest bands across the country. All of these things were amazing goals that we achieved and will be things that we will never ever forget doing (plus, we have endless amounts of stories from the road). It really does make us sad when we start sitting and reminiscing about all of the incredible shows we've played, the people we've met, the parties and places we went to everywhere in the US...it was all just amazing. However, it also becomes a harsh reality when you really start having to look at your own life and really building to have a successful career.

Unfortunately, the music industry, as awesome as it is to be apart of, is a tough place to really set yourself up for a stable setting in the future. Everything is so fickle regarding how a band breaks out or not. You can be together for 2 months and then be on top of the world...or it could take you many years of touring your asses off and working hard before you start seeing a return...or you could work just as hard as the next band but have nothing ever happen for you. I think the key here is "working hard". That's why we're not as upset over this as we thought we were going to be. We toured as much as we possibly could and poured everything we could into our songs. Sure, people can look at us and say "they quit too early" or "they could have done more"...but when we all feel a certain way, what point is there to try working as hard as we have when the passion is starting to fade? We've all been together for 6+ years and the amount of effort we put into this was 100%. The one thing we wanted to make sure is that nobody thought we just gave up like it was nothing. This was definitely one of the hardest conclusions we have ever had to come to and we're all very upset things didn't work out like we wanted them to.

So anyway, before I ramble on too much...we want to give a huge thank you to everyone who has supported us/bought our records/came to our shows/partied with us/let us stay at their place/talked to us/etc. over the whole time we've been a band. The time will come where we can list every single person we thank and why...but that'll be in the near future. There's too many people and too many stories to just try coming up with names within a day or two. We've met many amazing new friends that we will always keep in touch with...and no matter what...the entire experience was COMPLETELY WORTH IT.

I don't want to say that we're broken up...we still want to write music, trust me...but as far as touring and taking months off to do it, that's what has to change. None of us will be able to completely block this out of our lives...and if we can...we will still be releasing music to the world.

We'll miss all of you incredibly. Please, make sure to keep in touch. All of our screen names will still be on our Myspace page (shameless plug...www.myspace.com/june). If you've got a story of a funny event/party/anything that you've shared with us, tell us! We want to remember it all, haha.

As far as our music, we're not going to force it toward anybody. If you feel like checking it out, go ahead and do so. If you don't, who cares, come find us and hang out. We all enjoy having a good time, ha.

Finally, to all of our friends working in the industry (bands, label employees, managers, etc)..we wish you luck! It's been a blast playing shows and working with you, we know how hard it is, and if you feel like your time is not over...keep working hard!

Look out for the last round of shows we will be playing for a while. They should be posted as soon as they are confirmed.

We Love You,

Sutor, Tim, AJ, Mark

Now every single band tee in my closet is a band that has gone on an indefinite haitus/broke up. Piebald, The Get Up Kids, Spitalfield, Matchbook Romance, Waking Ashland, Brandtson, and now you guys. I have the worst luck of anyone. Ha, anyway, I'll keep enjoying your music and I won't let this upset me. I realize you guys are humans too, and not servants or playthings for my entertainment. I love you guys, and hope I'll see you again sometime.

I remember doing sound and lights for you guys in a little coffee shop in Batavia, NY opening for Gym Class Hero's... It'd be great to have you guys back one last time... It's a shame how one band can make that next step over another band no matter how hard you work your asses off...

I acctually had a tear or two come out when I started to read this, I hope one of those shows are in Michigan cause I don't think I will be able to go out to Chicago till the summer. If theres not one in Michigan then thats okay cause I already saw you guys twice last year and got you autographs and I will probably still be getting a tattoo of one of your lyrics on my back.

i don't want to think you guys as splitting up because i could never think that, break up or split up, i don't see it.. probably because i'm so used to you being so close together. i will support you through this in hopes that i will see you again sometime. you're really one of my favorite bands. hanging out with you at shows, at warped tour at your tent just talking to you for like an hour, singing along to every word, it'll be memories ill always keep with me. i'm exremely bummed about this, i mean EXTREMELY. i hope you all find what you really want to do in life and become successful in it. music will always be there, i'll still always listen, and thank you for touring and working so hard for all these years.. it means a lot to me as well. please don't make this a final and ultimate deal. i hope in the next 5 years you'll at least tour once or more. at least to FL :) ( you know i had to say something like that) but anyways, mad love to you all and it's been a great pleasure to have seen you live 5 times. <3 - kristin

The great thing about music is that no matter what happens to a band it'll always be there. To be lsitened to and to produce the same emotions.

I just wish more people would of caught on how wonder your music is

sorry i dont mean to double comment but this is really hard to believe, seeing you guys play and listening to your music from early on has been like my MAIN inspiration to try and keep my band alive, since reading this ive been doing a ton of thinking, and im never going to forget the time i went to the metro show last year with my friend and his girlfriend and than we saw some of you guys at the steak n shake later on... that was crazy and i never would have expected that to happen... you guys have always been really cool to me, and alot of bands are too stuck up to give time to their fans, you were never like that... you guys always appreciated how blown away i was after some of those shows when i would go down the stairs from the stage and annoy the shit out of you guys cause i was starstruck

i just dont know what to think, this is crazy

SON OF A BITCH!

why are all the best bands i listen to "fading" out??? this is so sad. you have way way too much potential and talent to be doing this. i know you feel like youve worked so hard to see less results than you wanted but shit. i played your album all the time at my store when it came out and we sold tons of copies of it. its good. there is no need to stop. there is need to keep touring.
i tell kids to not give up on hearing a really genuine quality band. there are still some out there. when i say go see bands that count i talk about bands like you. now i will have to find other ones to reference. :( so sad.
please play philly on your last hurrah.

Part of the reason great bands like Sullivan and, now, June have called it quits this year is because they cannot survive financially. Illegal downloading is cheating bands on the verge of breaking through out of finances and career momentum. Bands get a series or royalties for their performance and songwriting contributions based on units (CDs/MP3s) sold. However, before they collect a dime in royalties, they have to pay for expenses that can include: recording, pressing and packaging the album, money advances from the record label and/or promotional expenses. Artists may have to sell tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands of CDs before they break even. A band /may/ make money from touring and selling merch, but the price of gas and insurance is making touring increasingly less profitable.

Another way illegal downloading harms recording artists is by lowering the number of CDs sold. Record companies base the amount of support they give to a band partly based on the amount of CDs they sell every week. Unauthorized downloads don't count toward this total. A band whose fans are downloading audio files that aren't tracked are slowing the band's momentum within the industry.

If you prefer a computer-friendly format, there are plenty of places online to download thousands of artists' music in MP3 for reasonable prices from which most of the artists will receive a financial portion. If any artist's fan considers illegally downloading his/her/their tunes, remember that you could be helping to kill that artist's dreams of making a living in music.

I'm sorry to hear that June is calling it a day. I remember the first time I heard "Patrick". Sorry I don't have the time and finances to catch their final show in Chicago. Best of luck in your new futures, guys!
