Friday 16th January 2009
Today was the last day of my work experience with UNICEF, and after finishing putting together the Baby Friendly Initiative packs, and sending some more emails about the UNICEF logo, I spent most of the day finishing the project that I have been working on over the last two weeks. Using the UNICEF website, I found out about the Ambassadors and High Profile supporters who help raise awareness of UNICEF’s work, and to fundraise on their behalf. These Ambassadors and High Profile Supporters are celebrities chosen because of the commitment that they have shown towards UNICEF, and include Robbie Williams, David Beckham, Claudia Schiffer, Orlando Bloom and Zoë Salmon. I also found out about some fundraising events which UNICEF supporters can participate in, such as the Trek for the Children of Nepal taking place in May 2009. People taking part will trek through one of the most remote and beautiful parts of the Himalayas, and will visit some of UNICEF’s work in the area. I think that this sounds like a really interesting event, which allows people to raise money whilst doing something worthwhile. When I had finished putting together my project, I spoke to Sue about my experiences over the last two weeks. I’ve met some great people, had a really enjoyable time, and have learnt a lot about UNICEF and the work that it does for children all over the world while working here. Thanks to everyone for making my work experience so worthwhile!
