We played our first virtual gigs recently, streaming a live performance of our songs over the Internet, while our virtual selves made appearances at 2 venues in Second Life.

An interesting phenomenon, virtual gigs - no one's getting rich off of it, but the overhead is far lower than schlepping stuff out to clubs & stuff...not to mention that it is a great way to have your music heard worldwide, even if it's only by a person or two (hey, everything has to start somewhere!). It's a bit odd, being that detached from your audience - but it's not completely detached, the warm reception and extremely nice comments are welcome feedback for us!

We'll definitely be back doing that again, although we don't want to do it all the time - other irons in the fire need tending as well. Still, it's one more way of bridging the divide, and perhaps even one wave of the future of music...

REAL LIFE--- yeah there is one.

Postcard:

The best thing about playing live is the visceral connection, especially without words. We have had a performance every weekend this month; Massanetta, Forest Oak and back tonight in Roanoke, VA. Each jump out of the water catches a different breeze and makes a different splash. Swim, Swim, Swim, JUMP...I can feel you in the room with me. Each wire in the backline makes for catfish whiskers, trained on you. I long for the day when the virtual listeners join the bumpin' and knockin' here on the dance floor...stirring the waters.

Long time a coming. We have been very active of late with recordings and local music and traveling. Now, we are HOME,yay! The month of May is a time to lay low, paint the trim, garden and of course, Work on new music. You can catch up to me in the SecondLife.com metaverse. For a closer look at >b Willowhouse In World />b see myspace.com/willowhouse. WE have made some interesting acquaintances and more interesting friends who meet from around the world in meticulously arranged artistic surroundings. What a charge! The virtual world is spinning with the sound of LIVE MUSICIANS in REAL TIME. All the people who make a journey to find collaboration in arts and music communities owe it to themselves to discover the inroad to avatars in dancehalls. Stay home in your jammies and go out to a club (fully designed, appointed and hip) that caters to your taste of music and meet people who like to do the same. It's like hitting the remote button and suddenly you are IN the cartoons you have been watching. And there is a SOUNDTRACK to your life. You gotta check it out.
