Just wanted to extend a huge thanks to all those who came down for the London Premiere of Star Trek on Monday. It was a fantastic night which culminated in a great party at the Royal Festival Hall. Seeing the movie in the main theatre at the Empire Leicester Square was nothing short of exhilarating. The crowd was pumped, the atmosphere was electric and the sound was turned up to eleven. I still haven't been able to get the smell of dilithium out of my kilt.

In my ongoing fight against mean spirited journalism, I feel I should wade in and defend my NBF, Chris Pine who according to the British Sun newspaper, "was really annoyed because Simon got all the laughs at the premiere — both during the film and on the red carpet.” He then went on to "shun" the party. Let's just be clear about this, Chris really isn't the type to shun; he's not a shunner and nobody at the party (that he most certainly did attend) felt his enshunment. He actually spent a good hour posing for photos with my family, who for the next 24 hours seemed incapable of saying anything other than, "Chris is lovely, isn't he?" I'm guessing the story was twisted from generous statements he made on the red carpet about his fellow actors that (horror of horrors) he might have expressed with a hint of irony. Like me saying "damn you Pine you handsome talented bastard!" as I do every night before bed.

Trust me, you are going to love Chris's Kirk. He demonstrates all the swagger of Shatner and combines it with a lightness and likability which is all his own. If anyone walks off with this movie, it's The Pine .

I wasn't able to attend the premiere (hurray for nerve death) but I was lucky enough to have sent down a friend who is just a big a movie and sci-fi buff as me, and managed to snag a few words with the cast (including yourself and Chris) and get some autographs.

I've begged my Doctors to get my last two operations out the way by May 8th so I can sit in my local Empire cinema, popcorn in one hand, tribble in other, and enjoy the re-birth of a childhood love.

And as a huge fan of your's sir, I cannot wait to see one of my favorite British actors/writers portray one of the most loved characters of not only Sci-Fi, but television and movie history alike.

Oh man, that's awful. I hope you get it fixed in time. I managed to nearly break my ankle and knee the day AFTER I saw Shaun of the Dead in the theater by falling down stairs. Not nearly as bad as yours, but still a way to remember the movie in its own special way.

As the date draws nearer , I am growing more and more anxious to see you and everyone else in the new Star Trek !

From the reviews I've read this film tops Star Trek 2 : The Wrath of Khan which set the mantle upon which all other movies from Star Trek were made!

Beam me up Simon! :D

Simon, I simply adore you.
Unfortunately, I .. doubt you.

I'm so GEEKED to see the new movie; it has my three favorite things...Star Trek; Simon Pegg; and KARL URBAN. I am, however, terrified of Chris Pine being Kirk. It will take an awful lot to change my attitude toward this. Everything else seems in order...but this guy? Really? I'm getting a "Paul Walker" vibe off this guy...I'm just not seein' it; not feelin' it. Dunno, guess we'll see...

I do love Chris Pine. His character in Smokin' Aces was such a badass.

You're a good man for defending him Mr. Pegg.

Yet again the location gods prevented me from being anywhere near London.
You and your wife looked a-maz-ing!

I think it's annoys the press when a production goes without any cat fights and everyone seems to get on with each other. Next red carpet you go to Chris and yourself should do a few dead arm slaps as to clear the air.
lol
Looking forward to it and will be there on the night. As always, dear sir, you have handle yourself with the upmost gentleman conduct. Thanks for letting us in on the truth and I am off now to see how many times I can use the word enshunment in a conversation.
I like it!

Having watched it three times in one weekend ,phoning friends and insisting they come over and see this great flick. Sadly it was only 1 month ago I purchased the box set of Spaced on eBay. OMG!...I cannot tell you how wonderful it was the have such a treasure arrived in the mail. Continued luck and good health to you Sir and thank you for all the laughter my friends and I have shared as a result of your writing and acting.

Simon, your wife was the most beautiful woman I have ever seen on the night of the premiere. The only clue I had from those wonderful pictures that she is expecting was the GLOW on her face. I mean, wow! Between you, the baby and the best movie of the summer...well, it shows. In fact, if you hadn't have worn your kilt, she would have stolen the whole show. It is quite obvious from all of your pictures with her that you 2 are so in love, and all that love is just spilling over for a very fortunate and blessed child. I just hope Minnie doesn't get too jealous.

Also, I think it is awesome how you stand up to the press and put the REAL truth out there about your costars.
Don't stop being you!

Mr Pegg, i have been a Star Trek fan since i was 8 years old and i think all the cast members of the new movie have some big shoes to fill. i am very happy with all the new actors and i know each of you will be a standout. Chris is a first class choice for the Captain and i believe James Doohan would be very happy with you as Mr Scott. it will be a GREAT movie and the coolest DVD. best from Boston.

Simon, I've enjoyed seeing all the photos & interviews from this event. I especially love how you & Maureen always co-ordinate your outfits. It's cute! (Maureen looked radiant, BTW.
)
;oD

As for those out there who'd rather take pot-shots at actors & make up stupid nasty rumours, they obviously are tiny-minded spiteful hacks or have sold-out for the money (or both!).

BOO to the naysayers & HOORAY for your honesty & unwavering loyalty in this cynical world, Mr Pegg.

:o)

I can't wait to see this movie on our next Melbourne Peggster outing.
Yay!

First...looking forward to see Star Trek..

Second...this is why I don't read newspapers...journalism seems to have become a dirty word. What happened to reporting the truth...now it all seems to be lies, gossip and innuendo. Ok, maybe one shouldn't expect too much from toilet paper like the Sun...but why aren't they done under the trades description act? Don't let what they say get to you...
