I just got home from seeing "Trek" & I FREAKIN' LOVED IT! I was already having a ball watching it, & then you popped up on the screen & I was even happier!

My only complaint: not enough Scotty/Pegg. I look forward to more screen-time for you in the next one.

Hey Simon - long time fan of yours here, from when you were the warm-up man for Steve Coogan to Big Train, Spaced, into the films... it's really great to see how far your career has come in just over a decade and I hope it goes from strength to strength.

Also a long time Trek fan - my first ever film in a cinema was Star Trek 6, and have been a fan of most of it ever since (not including Voyager and Enterprise, obviously).

Just want to say that while there's a few big things about the new film I didn't like, the powers that be definitely made the right move for the franchise, I'm eagerly awaiting the sequel and I imagine I'll see it at least once more before it leaves the theatres.

That said, there's two things that concern Scotty that I figure I may as well share with you on the off-chance you give a damn. I suppose the rest of this post is slightly spoiler-y but not in any major way, but if someone's reading this who doesn't want to know anything at all, then skip down to the next post....

1) Scotty is just comic relief throughout the whole film - he doesn't actually "do" anything, except the old "eject the warp core to escape" trick. That's all well and good - the original Scotty turned into comic relief by the last few films - but I was hoping to see a little more of that commanding Scotty we got in the original series. I hope you'll push them for a little more substance next time round.

2) Your little alien sidekick needs to get sucked out of an airlock between now and the next movie. Please Simon. He's Jar-Jar. Star Trek doesn't need a Jar-Jar for you to constantly tell to get off things.

Congratulations overall though, this could have all gone horribly wrong and it didn't. Well.. not completely anyway... :D

I have actually asked to go and see Star Trekk with the hubby and kids for Mothers Day on Sunday- cannot wait!! Looks fantastic and the reviews have been pretty outstanding! Esp for a science fiction film!! Woo hoo!

I saw it this evening. Brilliant, Simon! I am not a big Star Trek fan in general, but this film was amazing! Loved every second! I probably would not have rushed out to see it if you had not been in it, so thank you for introducing me to a whole new level of geekdom -- quite excited about that, actually:)

Haha, I was in the cinema and the Star Trek trailer came on...I had no idea you were in it but my friend she was like...ok we HAVE to see this movie...I just agreed..didn't know why she was so enthusiastic about seeing this movie...so I asked her why...and she just said...wait for it wait for it(then you appeared on screen)...that's why :) So I guess we're going to have to see it now :)

I really haven't been to a movie in over a year. Let's see, my son is 22 months old now and he was maybe 3 months old when we went.
This is worth breaking my dry streak.
Just wish my Dad were here because we tended to see the Star Trek movies together.

Just got back from the 7:00 show, and I haven't had that much fun at a movie in ages (well...since Hot Fuzz). You were great, the rest of the cast was great, the movie was great. I laughed. I cried (honest, I did!). Here's hoping for lots of sequels!
