Rehearsals are underway for the first theatre production to benefit MEOC Emergency Fuel Fund. ....

The Mountain Empire Older Citizen’s EFF is of critical importance to lower income elderly households in ..Southwest Virginia.. providing support in payment of heating bills during cold months. This program helps keep these families from having to choose between food, medications and heat.....

The MEOC Walkathon, a massive community effort delivered over $120,000 to this fund but at least $30,000 is still needed for the upcoming winter of 2009.....

With this in mind, local actors and crew have come together to present Robert Harling’s beloved Southern Classic “Steel Magnolias” at the Powell Valley High School Auditorium. It is without question that M’Lynn, Shelby, Truvy, Clairee, Ouiser and Annelle would have been highly supportive of MEOC’s efforts on behalf of local citizens. The public is enthusiastically invited to come, enjoy the show and help the fundraising goals of the EFF be achieved.....

Performances will be at 3pm on Saturday and Sunday August 8th and 9th, with the final performance at 3pm on August 16th. Advance sale general admission tickets are only $10 for adults and $8 for seniors and students. Advance sale tickets are available from MEOC drivers, MEOC offices in Big Stone Gap, The Post and Powell Valley News. Tickets will be available at the door for $12 general admission adult and $10 seniors and student.
