FirstShowing.net explains why Robert Neville in I Am Legend was legendary: he was the last man on Earth and he hunted vampires. Put yourself in the vampires’ shoes and he is the antagonist—the myth, the legend. I never thought of it that way. The included clip of the alternate original comes closer to illustrating the concept. I’m more interested in reading the book now—the film’s theatrical release didn’t portray that concept flip. Or if it did, i didn’t get it.

It's funny how simple things can completely change a movie. I don't know if you've ever seen the The Forgotten, but the original ending of that movie completely changes the feel of it.

No, i haven't seen that one. It's weird how Hollywood develops alternate endings and changes things. It must drive the original screenwriters crazy to see their stories butchered.

You'd think they would figure out before a single frame is exposed whether or not a story will work. That's how Pixar does it, and their films are always anchored by great stories. They don't model or render anything until the story is completely worked out on storyboards. Check out some of their behind the scenes stuff on DVD.
