A few years back i brought out my debut limited edition 7" single on a small Sheffield label called Twins of Evil, the single was called "Prince Shops at Bardwells", it got glowing reveiws in everything from the Nme too the guardian..(they were simple times then:>)

Bardwells is an electronic component shop,that sells everything from plugs,fuses,wire,to disco lights,circuit boards,speakers,bits of old tv's,..it's a very handy shop for the electronic musician(everyone from the Human league to ABC to Pulp shopped there more recently imonster,pink grease and me:)....So anyway i wrote this song about the place as my old flat was situated directly behind it,id daily be woken up by the cheerful but loud whistling of Reg Bardwells ,the lab coated no nonsense shop assistant and i would go in almost weekly to buy something or the other(blowing up powerpacks and spilling beer in to exstendtion leads was a very common occurance:>)...

I remember taking a journalist from The Face magazine in to meet them as they (the face) wanted to know what this Bardwells gaff was that i sang about??--(I made it trendy/sorry bardwells.ha).. So Reg Bardwells started to tell the journalist how he would give Phil Oakey from the Human league discount when "he was starting out" and with the money they saved they would buy some chocolate,it was very funny....Im typing this because someone told me the other day that they were on a Virgin train last week and they have some kind of "ontrain" Virgin magazine and in that magazine he said there was a feature on Sheffield and in that feature it mentioned Kings Have Long arms it also mentioned myself and bardwells in the same breathe so im kind of chuffed that a little shop that i wrote about has become one of them mythical places,like Morrisseys iron bridge,or michael jacksons baby dangaling balcony...

So ive just rambled on a bit(i think ive just realised what Blogs are for,sorry,ha)..The Funny thing is Prince shops at Bardwells was the first song i ever wrtitten as KINGS HAVE LONG ARMS the bside to this song was called Rock and Roll is Dead,i later had Phil Oakey from the Human League singing this on a collaberation single i did with him(you might still be able to find copies,if not its on my debut lp "I rock eye pop" which came out september 2006)
