Current mood: worried Category: Life
Someone might notice that I have not been keeping up with MySpace lately. Honestly, not much has been going on with me, specifically, but John's family is in turmoil. His sister Julie, who had breast cancer in 2005, recently found that she was out of remission and had gone back in the hospital. Julie lives about 10 miles from us. To make a long story short, due to a series of complications, Julie is no longer able to live on her own and the doctors have recommended the end of treatment. She is now on palliative care only, and has been moved to a hospice facility associated with Duke University Hospital. No one can tell us how long she will last. I wanted to share some pictures I took the other day at the Hospice at the Meadowlands. It seems like a wonderful place and she should be as comfortable as possible in her last days. This is such a sad situation, compounded by the fact that Julie will only be 65 on her next birthday, which will be July 31. We had a little party for her with cake and ice cream while she was in the hospital because she mentioned that she was afraid she wouldn't live long enough to celebrate it on the actual day.
These pictures were taken on the day she was moved to the hospice.
