I am with you all the way here. Sorry you lost your gig mate. That's every bit as frustrating as having a booking agent come in and take over the bookings and kicking you out. The number of times that's happened...!
You know what they're probably spending the money on don't you? The sport promos. They advertise the big game with posters all over the pub but they couldn't be bothered putting yours up. And TAB posters too. Every brain dead moron who drinks there already knows the TAB is there!

Don't hold your breath waiting for people to ring the pub either. The only time management ever hears how you went is if you went bad. Statistically, if people are happy they tell five other people; if they're unhappy they tell twenty-five.

I've never been to Kenmore Tavern but I think they may be owned by Woolworths. They're cutting entertainment back in just about every pub. The managers have to actually plead their case to keep it on.

While we're ranting: What is the deal (no pun intended) with poker? You sit there playing with play money like a damn retard. What's next?.... musical chairs? drop the hanky? It's all in the marketing you know. Texas Hold 'em sounds much more exciting that Wyoming Hold 'em, or North Carolina Hold 'em. Every dickhead that plays it probably goes in thinking they're the reincarnation of Doc Holiday. In the words of Ted Bullpit, "Somebody oughta blow it up!" While we're at it let's blow up Trivia as well!
You'll be OK Homer. Another pub will come along.

Sorry to hear you lost the gig too Homer. With another mouth to feed, it can get scary out there to support a family. As I was reading this I was thinking to myself, don't tell Jim about it, or you will get an earfull. Too late. I see he got to it first. ha ha. I do agree with him in the sense that they should advertise a bit better. Hang in there. I know you will bounce back up on your feet........hugs......Patty

Believe me it's not the cash. I do fine without making a cent from music. It's just that it sucks when you do the work, and it works and that work gets undone by corporate shenanigans and managers have to FIGHT to keep music in their venue.

All good, babies are certainly not gonna starve coz one gig calls it quits. Plenty more of them that I tell that I'm too busy to play. I am honoured that lots of venues ask for me so I'm in good demand. So much so that I asked the agents not to offer me the cheaper gigs as they just aren't worth it for me, so no worries about the amount of gigs. In fact if a new venue wants me they have to wait til May to get me anyway. So maybe I should jack the price again...haha?

Nice to know you champs are out there with the good wishes and thoughts if ever I am struggling, but for now, all's good, and supermarket chains owning pubs suck !!
