Come see how Abbie Hoffman, Dancing Church Ladies, Ms. Fast-food and the Starbucks Queen fit into the city skyline in
Chicago Stories: Voices Project.

At it's core, Chicago Stories is a series of snapshots reflecting the diversity of experience in this city. Through theatre, dance, music and film, Chicago Danztheatre Ensemble intertwines poetry from The Journal of Ordinary Thought (JOT) and the original writing of Chicago playwright, Paul Barile, to bring you stories from the very people who make up Chicago.

The "tour" through Chicago starts on Michigan Avenue in the present day, unfolding into a tale of the history of Chicago and the stories and neighborhoods that make the city what it is today.  The performance takes the audience to the trial of Abbie Hoffman the self-proclaimed "orphan of America" after he was charged with conspiracy in connection with the violence at the 1968 Democratic National Convention.   The cross-town rivalry between the Cubs and White Sox is played out with tongue-in-cheek wit, and the tour continues through the best part of Chicago: its neighborhoods.  Come see the dancing church ladies of the historic Pilgrim Baptist Church, mambo memories of Humboldt Park and the paradox between jungle and city in Uptown.  As we explore gentrification, the audience experiences the battle between Mom and Pop establishments and the corporate behemoth.  Read more about the background of the show at www.danztheatre.org
