Rose Kemp solo
performance in the Stage 2 space. Just her, a Marshall stack and a
Telecaster. Beautiful folky vocals, such a strong and powerful voice -
and the strangest doomiest riffs and guitar artistry you're likely to
see. I saw her last month in Camden Underworld (read the review
here.),
but this was a completely different affair. Seeing her perform solo
allows you to listen to the nuances of her guitar playing. Bending the
strings behind the nut in a very simple and subtle way. Thick,
cascading riffs and constant retuning and fiddling with her amp. For
one song she abandoned her Tele and sang a folk song with haunting
vocals that was enough to prove that sometimes you dont need twenty
fullstacks to create a sense of foreboding doom'
