We just returned from the film event of the year, the Michael Jackson Documentary Film called "This Is It" directed by Kenny Ortega. If you like Michael Jackson You will love this movie. Great sound and fantastic to watch. It is true that at times his singing falls a tiny bit flat or short, but that is expected since it was a rehearsal and not the final show. They had to go with what they had. The editing in this movie is an absolute marvel. Very professional and painfully crafted like a fine wine. Overall it was a much better picture than I had anticipated. Extremely favorable from my viewpoint, as well as my dates opinion, Miriam Gash. It was nostalgic and personal. Obviously a big thumbs up!

The Imax Experience was totally worth the extra money! Normally here in Olympia it would cost $14.50 to see. WE had a coupon that saved us $1.50 on each ticket! Plus you can use a military discount. I must say the film was GREAT! Best movie of the year, for Me, and I have seen a lot of flicks this season. Michael is a genius, and the editing in this movie cannot be beat. And of course the music says it all! We got cool "Backstage Pass" Collectibles that hang around your neck as part of this big event. I kept my ticket stubs and put then in my Michael Jackson CD Booklets! It sort of felt like we were going to a live concert event or something! I hope this movie wins an award or three for documentary, editing, and whatever else would apply. It was amazing! Thumbs way up A plus for me. The only criticism I would have is that some of the shots are blurry and out of focus, then they cut to a sharp image that is really clear. I wish they discarded the blurry shots and ran only with the clean ones for continuity, but all in all it really worked!

That said, go see this film. No one paid me to say this. Michaels mother Katherine, as well as his sisters are not going to see it. I cry foul on that one. They would love this as a memorial and a documentary that celebrates his life. His kids will see it soon by a private screening, and they can be damn proud of their Pop! we did notice that at certain times in the movie Michael looked as pale as a sheet, white, ghastly, and sometimes even creepy. These must have been the dates shot a couple days before he died and he was just a bit frail. But for the most part he was on top of his game and looked very good. Also, his energy levels change from one shooting day to another. Sometimes he is very active, and others rather passive. Either way this film brings out his creative and musical prodigy. I would watch it again! And crank it up will you! The music is never ending and quite good.

I've heard that there is nothing thuthful in this film - just one more attempt to make more money on Jackson's name.

That is bullshit. This is a fitting tribute to a musical genius. Do not believe everything you hear! The movie is brilliant! I totally recommend it.... Times ten! The music is phenomenal, and the editing is exquisite! You should go! Imax is best!
