It is about a woman who swallowed 1,446 different objects in a psychiatric hospital in Missouri around the early 1900's.

This reminds me of the old folk song:

There was an old woman who swallowed a fly,

It goes on and on, she swallowed a cat to eat the bird, a dog to eat the cat, and on and on and in the end - she died.
