Be for real...  If nobody likes the real you the phony you will only last until they see the real you then they will kick phony you and real you to the curb. You don't have to worry if they see the real you from day one and still want to be around.

THIS IS SO TRUE. YOU CAN ONLY KEEP UP A FRONT FOR SO LONG. SO WHY EVEN BOTHER. BE YOURSELF. ME PERSONALLY WOULD WANT TO BE AROUND A PERSON THAT CAN APPRECIATE THE REAL ME.

Sounds like a poem I wrote called, "Keep it Real"

It makes no sense to play head games and pretend
that you're someone you're not, when in the end
without a doubt, the truth will come out,
even without you telling me what you're all about.

Folk need to just keep it real.

Don't be afraid to spill the real deal.

If I like you for who you are,
I'll like you whether or not you're up to par.

Just don't fake your funk with me.

Let me see how you're gonna be
three months from now anyway,
then I'll know how to deal with you today.

If people are always playing peek-a-boo
like they're afraid of revealing themselves
to "God knows who"
then they must have something to hide.

They probably don't like who they are inside.

The sooner I get to know the true you,
the sooner I'll know whether to stay, or be through.

Is that why they keep themselves concealed;
afraid I'll be gone because they've been revealed?
Lies and deceit, I won't tolerate.

Those two things, I'll always hate.

I just lay down the law and tell them how I feel.

If they want to get with me, they've got to keep it real.
