So as per usual, every Christmas time, Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity, Ann Coulter and the rest of the whining pundits from the right are on their "war on Christmas" kick again. It's how I know it's really the holiday season nowadays, taking the place of the first snowfall. This year though O'Reilly wrote a whole book about it, covering more than just the war on Christmas though. He's claiming himself to be the "Culture Warrior". I should first say that I agree with a lot of what he says only I think that the right and left on these issues are equally to blame for their self indulgent attitudes towards the way society worships/doesn't worship or the way they celebrate during the holiday season.
My issue is the use of the word "war". We have people dying everyday in a real war and these jaggoffs dilute the power of that word when they use it to describe a national debate. The worst part about it is how hypocritical they are.
Athletes have used the word war to describe a game in recent years and have been raked over the coals by the Hannity's/ O'Reilly's for belittling the contributions of our troops. A couple of years ago, Kellen Winslow Jr. was amped up after a game and used various metaphors for war in a postgame interview and was widely ripped by the media.
He's 22 and coming off an adrenaline rush, what's O'Reilly's excuse? He wrote a book, sent it to the publisher, had it editted, time enough for that "typing adrenaline" to wear off yet it's ok for him and his cohorts to use war metaphors but when an athlete does it, they're being insensitive!
Well here's my contribution to the "culture war". I don't like either side, you pi.ss on the fun of the majority of clear thinking Americans with your self righteous, martyristic whining. Stay away pu#$ies! You may be putting a dent in the 1st amendment but last I checked the 2nd is still applicable.
