So here we are back in Melbourne & trying to adjust to being here. One of the first things I noticed is how parched everything looks, dry & dusty & in need of a good long drink. We're feeling quite torn about being back. On the one hand it's great to be back in the loving arms of family & friends but on the other, I feel like I'd found my place as an Artist in the UK. It's so central to everywhere where independent music is thriving. An hour by train to Paris or Amsterdam & only a six hour flight to Canada & the US. Australian Artists are held in such high regard or so I've found.
I worry about the state of the music scene in this country & particularly given the decisions on who gets commercial radio airplay or to play at our festivals & who gets funding seem to be in the hands of the same few people year in & year out.
Anyway, we're already planning the next tour which we hope will be bigger & better & at least twice as long as this first tour has been. We've made some wonderful contacts & have already been offered quite a number of gigs so we're off to a great start. I may have said this before but Beck Sian was instrumental in making this such a successful tour. We have a wonderful new friend & I hope we get the chance to perform together again as it was most definitiely one of the highlights.
