Current mood:Glad it’s Saturday
Well, another Strawberry Music Festival is right around the corner...  Folks here in Tennessee think I'm a bit crazed to travel across the country twice a year to go to a music festival "Hell, you only live a couple of hours from Nashville" they say, but Nashvegas aint Strawberry..  In fact, none of the many venues I've attended all over the states can compare with that little slice of heaven in the Sierras.  I originally stumbled into the fest in 1984 with my best buddy Pete and we both were awakened by the vibe.  I missed a few fests to do crazy stuff like go to grad school, but have basically been going every year since 1988 and at this point it's just what I do!!  "First came here back in '84, didn't really know what the music was for, but it touched my soul and kept me coming back.  The first few years it was just the guys, now we're bringing kids and wives, and tents, and trailers, and everything we can pack..."  A good friend once said "If ya wanna get to know Mark, go to Strawberry with him.  That's where the real person comes out.  But keep an eye on your beer..."  I don't disagree....

Right ON Mark!
I just happened across your post on Tim's site. I happened to get a video of Tim's last dip in Birch Lake, last May. It is posted in my videos here in my space. Great to know you make it out to the Sierra for this special festival. I made it out to Nashville last June, for a special annual tribute to John Hartford. There is a John Hartford blog, somewhere in my blogs, about that party. And heaps of videos, both on that blog, and on my video page, from that party at Battle Ridge Studios, near Nolensville.
Anyway, here is a link to the video of Tim jumping into Birch Lake.
