the more support the film community gets for films shot in SF equals more work for us broke filmmakers. there's lots of us. (oh, by the way, hey used The Cure song in the film-- such a blase, obvious choice (and they made it into an elevator version as well)-- please don't cry. :)
so, go see JUST LIKE HEAVEN.
mark ruffalo's a nice guy. he eats turkey bacon, oatmeal, bananas, and OJ for breakfast. he has a stunning face-- it's not all makeup. he is also very humble and never saw him get obnoxious or rude in any way. i didn't get to speak w/ reese-- but her stand-in was really nice. the extras who sadly got treated like cattle were most memorable. a very quirky bunch!
here's some landmarks you'll see in the film:
--The Abandoned Planet bookstore (located 5 blocks from my house in the Mission)
--North Beach's Washington Square Park
--Moose's restaurant in North Beach
--Golden Gate Bridge
--Dolores Park
a few memories: why was i stuck in the post office on the North side of Washington Square park keeping perfectly nice customers (i.e. "bogies" in film terms) from getting in the shots?? somehow i literally got shoved into the post office to hold these people hostage!! there were like 5 other PA's (read: males) twice my size who would've gotten MUCH more respect from these people. i practically got spit on-- because my job was keep them inside until the word was given for them to walk on the "public" sidewalk. they were all frowning so i tried to quickly think of some funny jokes. this was a time i regretted not knowing how to juggle.
the last day of shooting: standing in the FREEZING COLD until 3 a.m. to get multiple shots outside Moose's restaurant with fake rain. i really got irritated by all those homeless people who couldn't quit peeing nearby the set. at the time, the film was titled, IF ONLY IT WERE TRUE-- i would have pissed if they told me they were changing it to, JUST LIKE HEAVEN. look at Ruffalo's face in that scene-- his character was supposed to seem as if he had sleep apnea or something-- and guess what he hadn't slept in like 48 hours...and most everyone agreed that scene was hell.
