On Saturday at BlowUpRadio.com's 5th anniversary bash at the Saint, I mentioned how when the Saint first opened 11 years ago I used to go down many Tuesday nights for their spoken word open mic and perform some pieces I had written. People wanted me to perform on Saturday but I was fighting a cold (which knocked me out most of this week) and was losing my voice, so I had to decline.
But for those who wanted to hear one of my spoken word pieces I will share with you something I wrote last week while watching a documentary on Punk music. This is really meant to be a garage punk song, but since I don't write music, it's basically a lyrics without music (or a poem) right now.
The Clock Is Turning Backwards By Lazlo
everything's alright
(everything's alright)
everything's ok
(everything's ok)
the clock is turning backwards
because America needs to be this way
the tide is coming in
doesn't matter if you roe or wade
'cause you're gonna drown
unless you're right, then you have it made
oil prices are higher
and more body bags get filled
but don't you worry
'cause we'll find new places to drill
everything's alright
(everything's alright)
everything's ok
(everything's ok)
if you don't believe me
then you must be gay
the planet's getting warmer
but if you complain you're a communist
because real American's know
global warming doesn't exist
and everything's alright
(everything's alright)
everything's ok
(everything's ok)
because god blesses America
so we can blow everyone else away
the clock is turning backwards
because the world has gone astray
but remember, it's alright
we're gonna be ok
(thank you for choosing Happy American, can I take your order?)
yes, I'd like a 6 piece happy nugget with extra tripe,
a disgusting size Happy freedom fries,
and a happy red, white and blue shake.
Oh, and don't forget my happy pills
so I don't give a fuck about anything!
because everything's alright
(everything's alright)
everything's ok
(everything's ok)
as long as I believe what I'm being fed
what's right will get their way
because those in control
are the ones who are right
so swallow the hard pill
and don't put up a fight
everything's alright
(everything's alright)
everything's ok
(everything's ok)
we all have to die
why not today?
