It’s a little over 18 years since the web was
invented. Holy crap has it grown! First Yahoo!, then Google &
Microsoft and tons of other services - Hotmail, Myspace, YouTube,
Facebook, Gmail, Online Banking, Amazon etc etc. Without those you
probably wouldn’t have heard of Limite. We love innovation on the web
and do our best to embrace it. Here are our picks for 2009.

“Twitter is a service for friends, family, and co–workers to
communicate and stay connected through the exchange of quick, frequent
answers to one simple question: What are you doing?”
Twitter sounds feminine, we’ll admit it. But it’s utility is what is
going to make this service BLOW UP in 2009. Mainstream America hasn’t
caught on just yet, but Shaq, Britney & Barack Obama have.
You will probably hear from a lot of your friend’s about twitter by
June of next year. We’re already on twitter and a few of us have
personal accounts as well.
Why Should I use this? A few reasons - it’s
an easier way to stay in touch with friends, it can easily replace your
“away message” in IM, you can find practically any kind of social
information you want through search.twitter.com and it can integrate with facebook.

“Mint is personal finance that works for you — Mint downloads,
categorizes, and graphs all of your finances automatically every day —
so you don’t have to. Know where and how much you’re spending, without
spending any effort.”
Mint has been around since 2007 but we think this is the year that it is going to replace whatever online banking you have.
A lot of us at Limite use Mint to manage our accounts - it’s great
because you can see where you waste the most money - in the past I used
to spend $300 at starbucks in one month (mint showed me that caramel
frappuccinos were my vice), and more recently $100 on itunes! I’ve cut
down on both - thanks to mint. It also gives you a real time net worth,
assets - liabilities.
Why Should I use this? One word - recession.
You need to save & cut that unnecessary spending. Mint will help
you do this, by reminding you to pay you bills on time with bill
reminders, an iPhone interface & sound financial advice.

“Facebook helps you connect and share with the people in your life.”
It’s a lot MORE than you think. It’s not just myspace with an
organized look. Everyone get’s the connect part - but the sharing is
not used by the mainstream yet! I bet you didn’t know you could post
& share websites you like, videos (from the web) you like, as well
as make twitter your new update status, create events, blog, IMPORT rss
feeds & more!
Everyone at Limite has a Facebook account - but we’re not all using
it to our full potential! We all really need to work on sharing more -
Facebook has only had all these tools for sharing for about 3 months,
since the last big update. I see this a big thing, sharing the stuff
you find on the web with everyone you know.
Why Should I use this? Because you should be
networking - it will help you get a job if you need one. Sharing is a
way to exhibit your talents + accomplishments & gather feedback as
well, again, helping you get a better job or opportunity.

We’re kind of torn between these 2 services. Ustream is endorsed by
Barack Obama and can be used on laptop or desktop computer. Qik has
gotten Mobile Live Streaming DOWN PAT. They’re both working on an
“official” iPhone app which is going to be a game changer - imagine
live streaming any event: courtside @ the Lakers game, the weekend in
Vegas for your 21st, a Justice concert or even just your sister’s
birthday to relatives in another state.
I’m the only one at Limite that uses live streaming services of any
kind - mostly just to watch my dog when I’m at work, but once an
official iPhone app comes out I will be Live Streaming A LOT of stuff!
Why Should I use this? It’s the next big
thing - YouTube is a thing of the past. Live Streaming is where it is
at! The convenience and COOL Factor are absolutely unparalleled. You
can teleconference live from the streets of New York to your colleague
in Japan or Share a great experience with a loved one the moment it
happens. It’s practically priceless.
