Current mood:  sore
Just for future reference in case your doctor ever tells you that you need to go get a nerve conductivity test- tell them no thanks and run away as fast as you can.  Seriously!

My arm has been going numb and hurting a lot lately and even though I assumed it was just my carpel tunnel getting worse, I went to my doctor to make sure it wasn't something else because of the severity of the pain (and the increasing frequency). She sent me to a neurologist to be tested. She conveniently left out the details of what the test was going to involve or I probably wouldn't have shown up.

He stuck pads on my fingers and then electrocuted me from my finger tips to my elbows over and over with what looked like a barbecue fork. Every time he turned up that dial it got a little stronger- I almost cried a few times!!! Then as if that weren't bad enough, he added insult to injury and stabbed me in all the places he had just shocked me with a needle! And he added a few extra places for good measure including my shoulder and my neck!!!

The ones that hurt really bad and made my eyes actually tear were the ones in the web between my index finger and thumb and the palm or my hand. THAT one was the worst. There is still a big blue knot the size of a bite of dog food there now!!!

Supposedly the shocks tested how well my nerves responded and the needles were to test my muscles but I kind of wish I had never gone to the doctor in the first place now! I am in more pain now then I was BEFORE!! You would think such a thing would be illegal- it was cruel and unusual! I think it was secretly electro shock therapy so I would quit whining about my arm, hahah! Anyway, as I said earlier, if your doctor tells you to go get that test, run away screaming! That was one of the most painful things I have ever done!

The test results thankfully simply showed that I have sever carpel tunnel (which I have known for almost 5 years so thats not news at all) and that everything else is fine. I guess that all the work I have been doing on the computer with the pictures for the websites and etc... have been making it act up more than usual. Thankfully nothing serious at all.

Now if only I could get ctrl+z and ctr+x to be on opposite sides of the keyboard all would be well...
