Wow. To think it's been seven years of doing the website. And even longer, when I recall that I actually started reading books in preparation for it over 11 years ago!

This has been a hobby that's turned into a dream. There's no greater pleasure for a fan of SF and fantasy to be able to get a bombardment of new and exciting books in the mail every month, and then have his reviews quoted on book covers too. Gosh, it's as if people seem to care what I think!

My goals for year 8 are to increase the output of reviews. The last few months I've been very busy with other things, and so I haven't been meeting my reading goals. There's no sound reason I can't do 10 books a month if I put my mind to it. So that will be my big goal for the next year. You know the mantra: so many books, so little time. Well, I will try to remedy that next year.

Also, as I usually do, when it's anniversary time, I pimp for donations to help maintain the site. If you've been enjoying the site, and want to Paypal your birthday present of $7.77, there's a link on the profile to do so. It isn't much — it won't buy you two gallons of gas these days! — but it will help keep the site chugging along for a long time to come.

Sadly, the latest book I've reviewed was a huge disappointment. The Last Theorem, a collaboration between Arthur C. Clarke and Frederik Pohl (their first and only), is a story that starts off great...then simply falls to pieces. You'll just have to read the review to understand why I was so disappointed in it. However, I have a lot of exciting reading to look forward to in July. New books by John Scalzi, Tobias Buckell, Elizabeth Bear, Patricia Briggs, Joe Haldeman, and others loom on the horizon!

Thanks for being a MySpace friend and for your support of the site. I'm looking forward to seven more years and beyond!
