Current mood: blessed
It was like a dream. A nightmare actually. My baby, my guitar that has been the "sound" of so many Honeydust tunes fell from my finger tips in slow motion last Friday night @ The Sweetwater. I broke a string and on an old Gibson like mine, once a string breaks the tension on the guitar shifts and the whole things de-tunes. When it happened I was playing a solo so I was able to "fudge" the solo but after that I had to change guitars. I saw the Strat on the stand and spun myself around pulling my guitar off over my head. As I went to put my 65 Firebird down it just slipped out of my fingers! I couldn’t stop it. I couldn’t catch it even though it seemed to take 3 minutes before it hit the stage face down. When it hit, I felt it break like an electric shock serging up thru the floor. up my legs and straight into my heart. The band stumbled as they all saw it happen. I gave them the "just keep goin’" sign and we kept going. It was so painful and sad but we had a show to do! and as they say, the show must go on. I finished the night and kept my smile but once the show ended and the crowd left I cried. I felt like a lost puppy. It sucked. After the show we went to the after party where a true friend just happened to be. He owns a music store in San Rafael. Probably the last true cool music store in Northern California. He felt my pain and offered to fix my guitar! That night so many friends felt my pain and offered to help but it was Jim from Players Guitars on B Street in San Rafael who stepped up to the plate and took care of me. It was a crazy show and a crazy night for me but alas my baby is fixed! It took Jim just a day or two and she’s back in my hands again! I am blessed to have great friends like him around. The Firebird is back to sing another song!!!! Thanks Jimmy and thanks to everyone who felt my pain and offered to help in her restoration!
