Current mood:  curious
Category: Music

Everyone here at Fahrenheit Records is an artist of some type.  We range from musicians, to singers, to dancers, to producers to music execs and we all have been in the music business for a number of years.  We have all been dedicated to our craft, we have all sacrificed for our craft, we have all done the neccessary things in order to survive in the music busines, we were and are still prepared for any and all opportunities that may come our way as it pertains to the music business.

Now that we are now operating a record label we are almost amazed at how some artist claim to want to be an artist but put forth no effort to achieve that goal.  Anything in life takes effort, takes planning, takes preparation, takes sacrifice.

Unfortunatley, most artist we come across haven't done anything outside of saying they want to be an artist to get to that point.

We'll give some examples:

1.  most artist have no demo-no picture, no BIO, no recording of them singing.

2. most artist are not willing to put in the time to practice and rehearse

3.  most artist are not reading and finding out information about the music industry

4.  believe it or not alot of artist do not know songs

Live perfomances are crucial to an artist career.  THis is where you as the artist make most of your money.

Don't be presented with an opportunity to have your dream of being an artist come true and you are NOT PREPARED!!!!

1. Learn the industry

2. Practice, Practice, Practice, Practice- take voice lessons, take dance lesons, take speech classes, take acting classes,

3.  Learn cover songs as well as know your originals- as an up and coming artist you cannot do a whole gig of orginals because at some point you will lose the audience because they are not familar with your music

4. Have a professional package ready at all times to present to someone that approaches you to help you get your music out- have a good picture, have an uptodate BIO and most importantly have a good recording of your music.

if your music is on your myspace page at least have a business card that you can give that will direct someone to your myspace.

5.  Be assertive- talk up for yourself, approach people yourself to let them know about you

6.  Make your own path- don't wait to be discovered get out there so you can be in a position to be discovered.

The record exec or the management company is not going to come knock on your door.

And as always, our motto here at Fahrenheit Records, " MAKE YOUR PLAN, THEN "WORK YOUR PLAN"

Peace
