Hey there folks.... I've been waiting a LONG time to write this little entry!

As some of you may know, I've spent a good part of the last 2 years putting together a new band called Camphor and writing and recording our debut record which is called "Drawn to Dust". Now the record is done and the machinery that gets the music out into the world is beginning to turn, which leads me to present the following two Exciting Tidbits of News...

Exciting Tidbit of News 1: we have a release date! The album will be released in the US and Canada on March 18th, 2008 on an amazing independent label called Friendly Fire Recordings. They've had great success in the past two years with some highly regarded releases, and I'm exceedingly happy to be working with them. We're hoping to line up release dates for the E.U., Japan and Australia/NZ soon.

Exciting Tidbit of News 2: Camphor is ready to play some shows! Next month we'll be doing showcases and promotional sets at the venerable Pop Montreal and CMJ music festivals. In preparation for these high-pressure appearances, we've decided to ease into things with a casual 40 minute set at the charming lounge/cabaret Mo Pitkins House of Satisfaction (34 Avenue A between 2nd and 3rd Streets in New York City). The show is NEXT MONDAY, October 1st, at 10:30 PM sharp.... I know it's short notice, but if yer in NYC and have the time and interest (and you don't mind the $7 cover charge) I would love to see your friendly face in the audience for this special debut performance.

So.... that's the big info for now. If you're curious about what the record sounds like, drop by the Camphor MySpace page... I've just posted a new track called "Confidences Shattered" that seems to catch people's ears pretty well. Also, if you'd like to stay informed about Camphor developments henceforth, please signup for the official mailinglist at the band webpage camphor.net.

Thanks, as always, for listening...
