Hello everybody, this is Pat
Valley, Brad’s guitar player. Some of you probably know me from our
MySpace page, where Brad and I chat with you…I also post a lot of the
updates to our websites and put some of the videos together. Oh, and
occasionally I have some time to play guitar! Anyways, while this is
Brad’s blog, from time to time you’ll see posts from me. No blog
hijacking here. Brad’s been busy producing some songs in his
studio recently, so I told him I could handle this post…
On Friday, May 8th, we’re participating in the third annual 500 Songs For Kids
charity event here in Atlanta. It’s hosted by the Songs For Kids
Foundation, which was founded by Josh Rifkind. Josh and his team, for
the past three years, have taken on the incredible task of matching up
500 different artists with 500 songs, performed over ten nights at
Smith’s Olde Bar in Atlanta (that’s 50 songs each night for any
mathematically impaired readers). Each year, they compose a list of 500
songs in a countdown format. The past two years have been amazingly
successful, raising a lot of money and awareness for the participating
children’s hospitals and camps. We had a great time with our
involvement the previous two times, and additionally, Brad and I have
had the honor of performing with the foundation at the AFLAC Cancer
Center at Egleston Children’s Hospital. This organization takes the
most powerful benefits of music and delivers it to kids who really need
it. We’re thankful for the privilege to work with such a talented and
dedicated group. For more information, please visit http://www.SongsForKidsFoundation.org. Oh, and on Friday night, you can catch us playing song #78 in the countdown, “Surrender” by Cheap Trick!
Also, as you may have seen on the News page, we start recording a
handful of new songs in LA next Sunday, May 10th. Once again, Mike
Clink is at the helm, and we couldn’t be more excited to have some new
music for you all! Check the blog for studio updates (videos, photos,
and more) next week.
That’s all for now, stay tuned.
