This review is of the TTW show that went down in May at Modified Arts.. shamelessly stolen from Fuzzclone's Livejournal.... Hope he doesn't mind... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Through the wires is amazing and i will never not attend. I am so happy that they exist. NATHEN YOU HAVE TO FUCKING COME NEXT TIME. YOU DONT HAVE A FUCKING CHOICE. Dj Paul van oken dyke (aka terminal 11) Was glorious as usual. I wish i knew his music collecting technics, Im sure he has a far larger collection than me. There is always so much great stuff I have never heard of. Modem, who is local (but unfortunately is moving to texas) played a very refreshing set. I swear this kid was only 13-15, but at times his music was very emotional, sounding like a bent and broken boards of canada. Then would quickly cut to something very humor-ass and jumpy. he even used a cow bell! Next up, was DrexxRekker! I love this man! He is a tall slender mad scientist character on a mission to bring joy to little robots everywhere. His jumpy clanky bubbly beats are continually mixed live on his desktop. Mean while in his mad genius he operates on a helpless stuffed monkey, excavating its candy entrails and sharing them with the crowd. From the monkeys head came a small tube of plastic animals, which i had drexx sign with his scalpel. Headlining for the evening was "BEN, SINISTER" two guys, two laptops, four middi controllers, a trumpet, a keyboard and a projector. Live visuals of color and mixed old videos, from the 50s or so, were perfectly aligned with every-beat in there set. displayed on the wall behind them, they played a wonderful ambient and glitchy set. I bought the VCD for there entire set its wonderful and will probably watch it often. They are local so i hope to see them again.
