WORLD PRIDE AND POWER CONFERENCE MAKES HISTORY IN
HONORING 19 SGLBT LEADERS OF COLOR

The inaugural World Pride & Power Conference hosted by the World Pride & Power Organization held in the theme of "Unity, Empowerment & Inclusivity, " convening Thursday, February 21-February 24, 2008 in Los Angeles, California at the Olympic Collection Conference Center (http://www.ocbanque t.com/)  is honored to share the results of an international call for SGLBT World Pride Award nominees.

"This group of award recipients represent individuals whose work has literally transformed lives, shaped entire communities, empowered families and individuals.  Many have never been publicly recognized for their work but have been diligent in their stand for racial equality, social justice, gender rights, the rights of SGLBT and all people.  The World Pride & Power Organization reviewed hundreds of nominations and selected these 19 based on the impact of their work on the community-at- large.  These are people who get up in the middle of the night when a call comes in and rise in the wee hours of the morning to support the work of our movement,"  Says Ifalade Ta'Shia Asanti, World Pride Conference Chair.

Award recipients will be honored during the World Pride Awards on Saturday, February 23rd, 7pm-9pm at the World Pride Conference in Los Angeles--please visit http://www.official worldprideandpow er.com/ for detailed information.  Keynote speaker, Dr. Malidoma Some', New York Times best-selling author, will address the conference audience during the awards ceremony.
