A few quick updates from ..CampSoul:
NYCABF
The show in New York was great. We are thankful to Thadeaus and everyone at In Our Hearts for the invitation, and to the crowd for being so passionate. There was too much good music happening at once for us to see it all, but we had a good time with Jake and the Infernal Machine, and left very impressed by miss Mal Blum.
We tried to go to this vegan restaurant brendan had found, but it was too long
of a wait. That turned out alright because we went to this other little
place called "Sam's Falafel," which was SO good, and the owner, Sam,
was the kind of person you are glad you got to meet.
There is more to tell from that trip, but this is supposed to be a QUICK
update.
TOUR
Our summer tour is shaping up nicely and we are very excited about it. Even the dates not posted are pretty much a go. Some planning remains to be done, and that is a challenge between a host of massively busy schedules, but it's occuring.
KICKBALL
Yesterday we had a pretty epic game of kickball. The teams changed around
a bit, but i'm pretty sure sean and bj were on the winning team both
times. We were playing on a fenced in basketball court in town, and one
time the ball was a high foul that went up, up, up and dropped on the spikes at
the top of the chain link. That led to a valiant effort by sean and
andrew to re-pump and patch the ball with limited resources. We ended up
having to use a different ball, though.
me and brendan found some wild onions while we waited. To an outside
observer, probably the best part was that every time somebody tried to pitch,
Olive (beej and siohban's little dog) would try to follow the ball and get it,
so people kept having to collaborate across team lines to distract the dog
(usually the pitcher and the runner on first) so pitcher could pitch, and the
kicker could kick without kicking the dog.
So, there's the kickball update.
RECORDING:
This has been a strange journey of an album to record, but i think you're going
to like it. For a band like ours, it is always going to be true that one
of the main functions of the album is to be a document of our time and work
together. Those of you who come to our live shows probably know that THAT
is where we really exist: a bold and round tone--a bell struck once and it's
sound disappearing. But we also really like albums and this one is almost
done. You are updated!
SHOWS
Oh, as far as shows: Saturday the 25th is a big day for soul people. Soulmobile Eternal is playing an ALL AGES show at Dante's at 2 with "I Forget." Right
after that, Brendan and Clintorn will leave for a Perfect Future show in
Charles Town WV, then coming right back for the soulmobile's 21+ show at
dante's, with Sean Farr. Try to join us at one.
Also it looks like we're playing at Frostburg State's Hard Mock event on
Thursday, at quarter to ten. Perfect Future plays at 8. Hope to see
you there.
More brewings for the summer are churning. Will keep you posted.
