I wrote an article on everything you listed and it really hit's the Sinhalese government hard. It consists of facts about the military, the war, and the Tamil race. The world praises the Sinhalese government basically for killing young Tamil children, Tamil women, and a LOT of innocent people. Perhaps they would understand better if they went to Sri Lanka and had a bomb dropped on them? Do you think? It is one thing to support a cause of which you know nothing about, and another to mindlessly promote genocide. If this is terrorism, strap a vest on me.

When the Tamil's are stripped of their rights and freedom's(which is already happening), we will see who the real "terrorists" were. The president of Sri Lanka somewhat reminds me of Hitler........ Closing in on the brink of exterminating(that is essentially what they are doing) a whole race of people. And if my comparison is true............... This story doesn't end well...........

I agree with you. The problem is that people don't know the history of Sri Lanka and what Tamils have been going through for years.

A thing that people must understand is that when portuguese took possession on the island in 1505 there were 3 kingdoms (states): One Tamil (north-east) and Two sinhalese (central, South, West).

When the dutch took over in 1658 the states were still separate and that's how they were governed.

British took over in 1796. They joined the sinhala and tamil states together in 1833.

Regarding discrimination of Tamils:

1948 - Tamils were declared as non-citizens.

1956 - Sinhala only law (Sinhalese was the only language that all administration was in and we were told to speak it whereas before it was english) ... Read More
example, At independence, about 30% of government service admissions were Tamils, but today the percentage is down to around 6. Out of 100 people slected in the 1973 Administrative Service Examination only four were Tamils and two Muslims; the rest were Sinhalese.

1970 - ethnic standardization. where marks obtained by candidates from university admission are weighted by giving advantages to sinhalese

For eg,
Before Standardisation: Tamils in Medicine 250, Sinhalese 229. Tamils in Engineering 250 vs. Sinhalese 227. Physics, Tamils 204 vs. Sinhalese 183.

After Standardisation:In 1973 Tamil entrance of engineering admission fell from 24.4% to 16.3% in 1974

1972 - New constitutions in Law without Tamils participation eg, buddhism made state religion, Name change of island, declaration of Sri lanka as a republic.

1977 - Not using the terrorism act when there were state-sponsored anti-Tamil violence in 1956, 1958,1961,1974 and 1983.

Tamils tried to do protests but that's when they got attacked by Sinhalese mobs.

During these times in 1977 elections 82% of Tamils voted for separate state. After the 1983 state sponsored anti-tamil progrom. This is when my parents and many other tamils had to move from colombo back to jaffna. Tamils were getting attacked everywhere.

Tamil tigers were formed to protect the tamils against these sinhalese mobs. We can even say the SL government itself created the Tamil Tigers. Even hilary clinton said - you can't compare LTTE to other terrorist because their motivation for them is peace.

There are pictorial evidence of chemical weapons being used by the SL Army. There were also independent investigations which proved there were chemicals being used. The recent satellite pictures were released by UN showing the SLA firing into the "safety zones". If SL has nothing to hide they should let international aid and media into the war zone.

Bombing government assigned safety zones, bombing hospitals, burning libraries, staving people to death, shooting civilians in the head, raping women, torture of tamils, bombing orphanages and schools is genocide by the SL Army and the government.

Genocide is about ethnically cleansing a race - which includes laws. SL has been going through a slow genocide of Tamils since the British left and this is why Tamils need our homeland back. yugoslavia was in the same situation until serbia and kosovo split. We need the same solution for SL.

We are fighting for a ceasefire because the innocent Tamil civilians are stuck in the war zone and they need to get out but the government won't agree to it.
