Who Gives Kudos:

Monday, March 30, 2009

(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) Mac McAnally has worn many hats in his

storied career – producer, vocalist, guitar ace, chart-topping songwriter,
member of Jimmy Buffett's Coral Reefer band – and his recording artist cap
received a rather nice feather with last month's No. 1 "Down The
Road." Now, McAnally and his new label Show Dog Nashville look to build on
that Country radio success with the release of "You First.

A poignant series of vignettes about brotherly love in its various forms, "You First" ships to radio this week. The song is the first release from McAnally's upcoming Show Dog debut album.

The single follows the successful run enjoyed by "Down The Road," a song penned by McAnally and recorded by Kenny Chesney, who invited the acclaimed music maker to sing on the track with him.
Its ascension gave McAnally his sixth No. 1 as a writer and his first as a
recording artist, and led to an ACM Vocal Event of the Year nod for the
collaboration. The CBS telecast airs April 5 from Las Vegas.

Significant as those milestones are, however, they only tell part of the story of McAnally's multi-dimensional accomplishments. From his days as a Muscle Shoals session musician, Mac went on to become one of the most respected guitar players in the business. He's played behind or sang harmony for artists including Roy Orbison, Hank Williams, Jr., Amy Grant, Jimmy Buffett, Travis Tritt, Linda Ronstadt, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Dolly Parton and many more. He's a longstanding member of Buffett's Coral Reefer band, and his production credits include Ricky Skaggs, Sawyer Brown, Chris LeDoux and Little Feat.

Mac was named 2008 Musician of the Year by the Country Music Association, the same year he was inducted into the Mississippi Musicians Hall of Fame. He is also a 2007 inductee to the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame. McAnally signed his first record deal at the age of 16 and was the first artist signed to the legendary Geffen Records.

Way to go Mac! I can't wait to hear "You First" I'm looking forward to hearing all of the great music that you write. I didn't know that you play many instruments including the piano. You surprise me with your many talents, and life is going to be so much better now that we are going to hear more of your music. We all love a good love song, and the feelings you put into your songs. See you Down The Road.

Way to go Mac! I've been a fan since 1977 and have followed your career through all your albums so your latest success does'nt surprise me. I live in Missouri but work in Alaska in the oil fields up on the Northern Slope. I intended to finally get to see your live show in St Louis on 3/28, but the volcano near Anchorage held me hostage for 5 days and I could'nt fly out. I'd waited 32 years to finally see you live, dang it!....oh well, maybe you'll play Missouri again someday! Best Wishes! Alan
