Man, how many more great comics can we lose this year? Bernie Mac is probably the hardest working guy in Hollywood. He didn't get his own show until he was well into his 40s. He just kept pounding the pavement, being a great performer, loyal husband and father and all around good dude and this is what happens. I get it. Death comes to us all but damn! Bernie?? Though me and his styles differ greatly I always looked at him as a great example of perseverance in the comedy game. In the 90s when no one knew who the hell he was I remember him tearing it up on Def Comedy Jam, and making scene-stealing appearances in Booty Call, Friday, and a whole bunch of other urban comedies. He used to say, "I ain't scared of you motherfuckers!" and it would make me bust a gut every time. He lived a full life, though. In a world where we can always use a winking distraction his passing is truly a gut punch.
