Hey everybody-

It's time for the first installment of News Of The Hot Rails.
As many of you already know, we have been working on our first album, To Hell With The Hot Rails, for some time. Recording was done primarily by Charlie the drummer at the Davenport practice spot and his apartment in Fairview. Don't laugh, it's a really sweet apartment.

To mix and master the record we turned to Mark Klein at Noise Floor Studio. I watched Ohio State get beat by LSU, while Mark turned knobs and pushed buttons.

We had a difficult time naming the album.  Jamie wanted All Aboard. I suggested Single Entendre but that was vetoed by Jamie.  For one hot minute the album was to be named We Built This City On Rock and Roll Cliches. We finally settled on the current nod to B.O.C. mostly because they rule.

Album art was sticky for a while. Lots of ideas, but we had finally settled on an homage to Alice Cooper's Love it to Death. Then two things happened that really helped us find direction.  Frank Miller's camera broke and Jake Kelly did a flyer for the Gil Mantera/ The Hot Rails show with some dude in a bathtub in a river of turkey drumsticks. We gave Jake a few bucks to get his phone turned on and we had a bitchin' album cover.

Looking ahead we have a cool show with our favorite band, Bang Camaro, on March 1st at the Grog Shop. If you tell the door guy that you are there to see us, we will buy you a PBR Tall Boy and a shot of shitty whiskey.  Swear.  Let's get loaded.

From there we head off to SXSW where we will be playing with an assload of sweet rock bands, including another of our faves, Lions.

We return with Lions and add even more faves Devil Moto and Living Stereo to the Beachland Tavern to officially release To Hell With The Hot Rails.
