Singer and activist Otep Shamaya shares her feelings about meeting the Youth of Hetrick-Martin ...

"I remember sitting with the young people of Hetrick-Martin, listening to their questions, answering the best I could, and seeing my own reflection in their eyes, in their fears, their frustrations, in their anger, and in their hope.

There are many moments knotted on the thread of life, but this is one that I will remember forever."

Some of you don't care, and that's fine, but some of you do.

thats awesome of you too be behind.     freedom of choice.   freedom to freaking be who we are and join together.  im not bi or gay but i completely respect all those ways.      sexuality and relationships is so apart of everything and so thats why we're fighting to make it safe.                 if people who are gay haters ect just TOOK THE TIME to even think about it or look at it clearly then they would probably see how pathetic and horrible it is too discriminate based on sexual orientations.     so people like you spreading the word about mutual human respect are helping people take the time too look under the rug where its all swept away hidden from society.                         i hope hella wealthy people donate to places like that cuz that is a perfect example of a cuase thats just 100% GOOD.
that cause can only be good.
fuck titheing to churches, give that cash too this awesome generation thats actually trying to live on earth without expecting to be zapped into the rapture any second..

much respect           art saves,               humanist

It's a really good cause. I know a lot happens out there and some people have no way to go except to make their own way, at any age.

I LOVE that you are supporting such a wonderful organization. As head mentor for a GLBTQ organization, I can tell you that support like this, is needed to the highest degree, especially in small towns where funds and other forms of support are insufficient.

It's hard to advertise because of hostile threats, toward the youth and it's difficult to elicit funds from other organizations/donors because they might view this "life-style choice" as wrong or dirty.  I believe education and acceptance is the key.

I wish there were more people out there like you; kind-hearted and outspoken, who could see what you see....a need for compassion, charity and healing.

Thank you!

I'll Give my Heart & Soul to See you Free Agai

I wish I had something like that at our school in Hermiston. I remember being lonely in high school my senior year I was pregant with my Friend Stephaine, we were a month apart and we just had each other. nobody wanted us around because they thought it was bad for their image.
Were are thoses places when we needed them.
sucks to be in a small town, you don't get that kind of things for you here, which I think Hermiston needs one, it would be good here for the teens that need the love and support.
