well, kidz - it sure is nice to be drinking again. esp this room temperature PBR that my badass drummer and partner GV just handed me just after an afternoon outdoor beer in berkeley, catchin' up with ol' peeps.
amazing what partying 5 to 6 nights a week after 8 hour band practices will do to your voice, eh? which is exactly what i was doing back in January thru March - until i realized, SHIT, i have a vocal range of exactly 8 notes, barely an octave and i sound like i smoke 3 packs a day. not to mention, waking up with broken toes not knowing how the fuck that happened, and walking into any number of bars where the bartender would already be waiting with that good old g&t (or the "isul special" - triple gin with an optional splash of tonic).
getting my voice back in time for recording in April was quite a feat - kind of a mild version of a detox. sad to say i think i know what it's like to be a recovering alcoholic, in a mini kind of way. shit.
so now, with my so-far month long new daily habit of morning coffee (provided by the ever so kind staff at my local Peet's just down the road), with the occasional room temp PBR, i hope i've found a happy medium.
oh wait, shit, except for last week when i was taken to the ER @ alta bates in berkeley after a one-off night out in the infamous party-ragin' 3-some of me, garry motherfuckin' ventura and ben morse (who i just found out is a direct descendant of the actual dude who created morse code...) - no thanks to sean @ grumpy's who made me some 3 isul specials followed by jaeger shots that i can't even count on my right hand (and those are just the ones i remember taking).
so, hm. back off the wheel barrow? i dunno. better put down this PBR and maybe hit up the coffee joint again. no one ever went to the ER because of an iced coffee with soy milk, right?
damn.
in other news, though - come check out our new song that we've posted "Fade Away". we think it's pretty fucking kickass.
