Just recently I was sent an add request from a 21 year old female who claimed to be a fan of my music. She was very sweet and very attractive! All the things that would make you want to talk to someone!!! We talked several times about my music and how she could go about buying an album. Come to find out the person was lying the whole time. They stole another person's pictures from myspace, photobucket, and a bunch of other hosting sites. They had friends made up too! The entire Top 8 was a group of friends that were not "real". They would leave each other comments and had lingo and everything. The photos were of "real" people, but the person and story behind the photos were not. I was contacted by the real person and a number of her friends, and over a few days I finally realized that they were telling me the truth! I was talking to some who was an imposter! Needless to say I was freaked out and shocked that someone would really do that. I guess I'm a bit naive.
My point is: Don't trust what you see on Myspace. Myspace is a great tool for keeping up with friends, business networking, finding great music, etc. But be smart about who you talk to!!! Just because they seem sweet and attractive doesn't mean that it's "real" or safe! I know I've learned a lesson and I hope that this blog helps in the case of the actual people that I've encountered.
