Current mood:  awake
Just an update on the music world of yours truly. The writer's block, for now, is over. "Another California Song" is almost ready for recording...I do believe with the help of Elliot Hilton. We talked about this being the first song in a possible Whiskeytown-Uncle Tupelo-Old 97's project. Hopefully that is not crazy, crazy drunk talk.

I have been asked by my friend Mark Givens to participate in a Wickr Spgt compilation CD. Not to name drop, but other artists participating in this project are Lou Barlow, Franklin Bruno, The Mountain Goats, Amps for Christ, Refrigerator, Tinyfolk, Golden Boots, Rikk Agnew. I am a very lucky bastard to be included in this. I won't know my song for another couple of months, but be on the look out for that!

Shows will be booked in the not too distant future...once other songs are written. I need to freshen up the old setlist. Once the spring quarter is over and I can take off my professor cap (OK -- it's my beat-to-hell Cubs hat) then more songs will be ready.

Until next time...

first of all, all drunk talk is crazy drunk talk, but that's how stuff gets done... congrats on the comp cd, and good to hear that you've got some free time coming up for music... i appreciated your comment about my solo show, and it actually worked out pretty well, maybe i'll do more of those.

HELL YEAH!

Don't ever give up the music! DO YOU HEAR ME? DON'T EVER GIVE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!

(my buddy Rob, from college, has been in a band since the early 90s...it wasn't until waay after college that he got to tour out of the country! He just SOLD a song to Ugly Betty and Califonication----ya just never know yo')

You're too talented and each of your songs are truly unique, you have a diverse range of instrumental sounds! Your writing is incredible!

You just gotta learn how to market yourself/sell yourself here in LA...more pep talk later, tater!

I LOVE PHIL YATES!
