Okay Folks! Here is the first of our blogs about our adventures in music. They may not come in chronological order but that's a concern of time and not us. Anyway you may know, you may not, that we have just got back from The British Snowboarding Championships in Laax, Switzerland. I say we, but actually mean two thirds we as Jamie was unable to join us on this adventure through no fault of his own. Let me add our shows missed him greatly, as did our souls.
Adam and myself were due to do a live set and some djing during the week long event. What a nice surprise to find we were sharing an apartment with not just some wonderful musicians/djs of whose work i had admired and bought but a terrific bunch of lads too. Big up to Matt Smooth, Bonobo, Nick Maxwell, and Johnny all wonderful. Our good friend John, from the legendary Dragon Lodge in Tignes, had booked all the acts and looked after us impeccably throughout the week.
Before the first gig we met and were interviewed by the BBC's roving Newsbeat reporter Andy Brownstone, lovely chap, go and check the interview on the BBC's website, innit. Our gig was moved at the last minute on the monday to a place called The Arena which turned out to be a bit of a shit-hole unfortunately. And I ain't blaming my tools! However, there was a great bunch of heads who partied up with us and said they had a good time.
THE TENANTS SUPERMEN WOULD RETURN
The Djing took place during the Apres ski drinking sessions in a place called the Crap bar, yes I know but it means mountain or something (lies?!?). Our DJ sets revolved around not complex beats, mixing and talent, we left that to the other boys. Our sets were based on a classic rock vibe with the odd bit of hip hop. Most popular tune: Status Quo - Caroline. Free beer all round. Fucking marvellous.
More lovely surprises in the shape of our good friends professional snowboarders/artists/maniacs Scoph and Will. Scoph has his own clothing line Dalekfodda, check it out and wait for the pants we're going to make with him. Anyway, much drinking was done, so much so that one night Adam was like a human pinball. I can't talk, however, I fell over in his piss. Horrible.
So, after the tiny debacle of mondays gig, it was arranged that we would play on the thursday with DJ Format and Dom Harington in a much better club called Casa Veglia for the Animal party. Lots of good heads at this one including the delightful maniacs who supported us on the monday. Cheers guys you do actually fucking rock. Good fun show with John Dragon Lodge ably helping put our tracks on nice and loud.
Sadly, we were then on our way home on the friday. We shared a delightful taxi ride to Zurich airport with Format, who was going to hunt for rare records in the city. Good lad. The Brits were wicked. We had fun. I think most people did. Very safe. Tenants Supermen signing out.
