Day 1: So we left on Tues. Aug.26th. Arrived in LA and had to go pick up amps (Yazmine) and keyboard stands (Eric Stollstiemer) before we went to Cinespace. When we arrived there was a screening off Gossip Girl happening with about 100 girls watching it. Wierd LA stuff. After we loaded in one of the sound guys moved my Moog and we thought someone stole it. I was running up and down the stars on Hollywood Blvd. before Reno found out they moved it. Shit. So the dance party started and it was not our typical scene at all. The announced us over the PA and the DJ stopped so everyone would come into the other room. We played very uncomfortably, which probably came off like we were nervous, but people told us they liked it after. It was like playing at a preppy dance club. Then we boozed it.
Day 2: Went to beach and body boarded to prep for surfing later in week. Ate some food. Went to Melrose to shop. We played at 3 of Clubs that night, which was made famous in the movie swingers. I thought it was the bar where that one dude said, "This place is dead anyways," but Reno thought it was the hangout bar that the dudes frequented. We played second of three and some friends from Detroit showed up. The show went well and we felt good about it after. After the last band played Marice asked the lead singer if she could smash a pie in his face, he agreed, then she pied him. We have it on flim too. Then we boozed it more.
Day 3: We went to the beach with Eric S. and Danner and surfed that shit. Me and Reno got up a bunch of times and also got smashed into oblivion a few times. It was so much fun and I can't wait to thrash some waves again. We played at Spaceland that night. This night was awkward because they booked us after the headliner, Chester French, who apparently is one of Pharell's fav bands. The venue sold out. They played, people started leaving, then we played. Luckly some people stuck around and watched, because nobody knows us out there yet. Reno knew some actor that was there from Band of Brothers, and said he was pounding Patron shots all night and grabbing his face a lot. Then we went somewhere and boozed it.
Day 4: Drove down to San Diego. Got a hotel for 2 people, and the desk clerk said he saw 3, so I said, "naw, just 2." We went to the pier where a pirate ship was, got some fresh seafood and a nice cold one, and sat by the water. We played in the Atari Room at the Casbah because we sounded nothing like the bands that were playing that night. It was cool though because we played 2 sets in between the bands setup and breakdown. We meet tons of cool people and probably the most intense couple we've encountered. At one point Reno looked at me and said, "This guy is really intense." Right when he said that the dude looked at us, grabbed Reno's shoulder, and said, "I fucking love this guy." It was super fun. San Diego also have a bicycle event called critical mass, which about 1000 bikers take to the streets and cause havoc and massive traffic jams. We saw them pass the Casbah, and it was amazing. They kept coming down the street for about 5-10 min. Crazyness. The we didn't booze it anymore, and went to hotel room.
Day 5: Drove back to LA for F Yeah Fest. When we got there there were already a ton of kids hanging out. It started around 3pm. Three venues, Echo, Echoplex, and Annex. We played the Annex at 730. We saw Mannequinn Men, Mae Shi, Witch Hats, Matt and Kim, Negative Approach, and tons of other here and there. I broke half of a the last key on my Moog off in the trunk of my car. It sucked, BIGTIME. People watched us and we gave a bunch of our CD's away and sold a few of our 7". A guy from Vanity Fair watched us and was doing a report so maybe well be in that shit????? Then Marcie called Har Mar and he hung out for a bit and we did shots. Then got drunk. Ate some left over Mexican food, which was amazing that night.
Day 6: Up to San Francisco. Swan on a beach that had tar washing up onto the shore. A guys said it was natural sepage from the ocean floor, but I think it was natural sepage from the oil tankers out in the distance. So gross and depressing. Passed through the Garlic capital supposedly. I could never imagine living somewhere that smells like garlic, everywhere! Stayed at our friend Lynn's in Los Gatos that night. Up in las montanas. Felt great to sleep early.
Day 7: Went into San Fran and headed from Fishermans Wharf. Ate some good sea food, went into old arcade/ mechanical museum and watched sea lions. Then went to Marcie's friend Nako's house. Hung out then went fro Sushi. We played at the Knockout that night. It was Monday and Labor day, so we thought nobody would show up. Suprisingly it was pretty busy. They had us play last, which was OK, but the sound was totally F-ed. Marcie couldn't hear herself and all I could hear was Marcie. My keyboard levels were up and down. We should have sound checked earlier. Oh well. Didn't really booze it that night.
Day 8: Drive back to LA. Went to a Rad bar owned by someone from the Germs. Why can't I remember the name of the bar or who owns it? The cops came when a band was playing so we had to leave. Went to the Cha Cha Lounge. Took photo booth pics. then went home. Tired.
Day 9: Came back to the Mitten. Didn't edit this that well either.
