Current mood:Loves Her Grandma Category: Writing and Poetry
Picture this...
The most adorable 87 year young woman with the softest white/gray hair, gorgeous baby blue eyes that emit nothing but love when you look into them, who hugs you like you're the most precious thing on the earth.
Yep, that's my grandma.
The woman who danced around the kitchen singing "Tea for Two" with me. Made me wear that hideous bonnet to protect my head from the sun when we'd go out picking in her ginormous garden (seriously, this sucker was HUGE). Filed my finger and toenails after every bath (I still get chills just thinking about it. Toes? Come on, grandma... what's with the toes?). Told us ghost stories as we huddled in the hallway during a thunderstorm when the power was out. Sang "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" to put us to sleep. Baked everything from scratch (obviously, she only had the biggest garden in the state, lol). Other than torturing our toes, and making us wear those ridiculous hats, this woman is the epitome of what a true grandma should be, and she loves us unconditionally.
Now that you get the idea...
Two weeks ago, my uncle brings her up for my parents 40th wedding anniversary. Mind you, they live four hours away, so we don't get to see them very often, so this was a real treat. My parents renewed their vows during church, my niece was baptized during the same service, and the party was afterward. My mom and dad sang a duet during the mass that had my sweet grandma crying rivers of joy. They were only supposed to stay one night, but grandma didn't want to leave just yet, so they stayed two. Even then, she didn't want to go. Poor grandma. I miss you, too.
Anyway, while she was here, everyone was talking about my first published novel, Christmas Coffin. I don't know if my mom had ever mentioned to her that I wrote a book, or she forgot, but needless to say, she was very interested.
I know what you're thinking... You never gave a copy to your own grandma? (See paragraphs one and two above for your answer to that... Hmmm)
Can you see me giving this sweet lady a copy of an erotic horror novel that I wrote? Didn't think so. She probably still pictures me as the little girl who did the two step with her in the kitchen, not someone who could write about such demented, deliciously naughty things, lol.
However, full of excitement over my accomplishments, she wanted a signed copy of her very own.
Uh-Oh!
"Sure, Grandma," I smiled nervously.
Of course, I couldn't say no. This is Grandma! It would break her heart if I didn't give her one.
My uncle said she's not really into vampires, so she probably won't read it. She just wanted to have it to display proudly in her bookcase.
Riiight.
The moment I gave it to her she started flipping through it. Gave me the biggest, kindest smile and told me she couldn't wait to read it.
Gulp!
Needless to say, she called my mom yesterday and told her she finished reading my book. She liked it so much that she's re-reading it again, and wants to know when book two is coming out.
However, she did tell my mom she had no idea her granddaughter was so naughty. Pointed out that I used the "F" word such and such amount of times. I have no idea how many there are because I never counted them, but apparently she did. Way to keep track, grandma. See, she's sharp as a whip, too. And she wanted to know how come I just didn't say "they had sex" when it was obviously what I was talking about. She's from a more old fashioned day and age, so I don't think I'll tell her about pillow talk, lol.
Shewwww! Beside finding out that her granddaughter is a demented pervert with a foul mouth, she actually liked my book.
Thank you, Grandma! You made my day.
Thanks for reading, everyone. I thought you'd enjoy a good laugh at my expense, lol.
Lots of Love & Big ((HUGS))
Still Grandma's little girl (I hope), Michelle
